Tribute to the Ancestors

On June the 11th the annual tribute to the ancestors takes place @ Coney island. I recently came across the Secret Passage series by artist K. Shingavi Rambert and was surprised to learn that he was inspired by contemplations of the middle passage journey!

This new yorker of Afro-caribbean descent pays homage to the millions lost. he imagines they are guardians of the sea. He will share his insiration and read his poetry. You will even be able to purchase copies of his verse and prints of his work @ Calabar Imports.
